UCU is the largest trade union and professional association for academics, lecturers, trainers, researchers and academic-related staff working in further and higher education throughout the UK.
UCU is funded by subscriptions which comprise a national levy, covering all national and regional activity. Changes to the national rate are approved at UCU Congress annually.
Subscriptions include a 1% political fund contribution. UCU’s political fund does not expressly contribute to political parties; all of our political fund income is used to promote the interests of UCU members, campaigning and lobbying irrespective of party political affiliation. Members, on an individual basis, can opt out of paying this contribution.
